Young Scientist Week is a week long appreciation for science. All students are encouraged to work on a science project.  The older grades are encouraged to focus on running a scientific experiment that asks a question and tests it.  Parent involvement is key and can be a great deal of fun.

The students bring in their work on the Monday of science week to display their work and learn from each other's projects.  The week comes to a crescendo on Wednesday when all students are encouraged to create an egg lander for the Egg Drop Challenge.  An egg lander is a contraption that will protect an egg from a fall hitting terminal velocity when dropped from either a 90- foot fireman's ladder or 55-foot scissor lift.

Wednesday evening of this week the school is converted into an epic science fair with scientists and guests from the community coming to show the practical applications of a variety of scientific disciplines.  This is a very volunteer intensive operation and typically requires over 100 parent volunteers.

It is fun, exciting and rewarding, as its goal is to really inspire the love of science throughout the entire Bennett community.  It occurs in the spring and kids are encouraged to attend even after baseball practice and games.
